Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, also referred to as counseling or therapy, is typically provided in an office setting, in person, via telehealth transmission, or occasionally in a client's home. A master's-level clinician provides Psychotherapy and utilizes evidence-based interventions. Psychotherapy sessions typically last 40-60 minutes and usually occur about once per week. Psychotherapy applies to individuals, families, couples, or groups. Occasionally, psychotherapy is provided at no cost by an intern or practicum student studying to become a psychotherapist. Interns practice under a licensed supervisor.

Common reasons to seek psychotherapy include:
  • Distress or mental health issues that interfere with daily life.
  • Issues that cause embarrassment or avoidance.
  • Decreased quality of life due to the issue.
  • Negative impact on school, work, or relationships.
  • Changes in coping habits or developed habits to cope with the issue.

Community-Based Rehabilitation Services

Community-Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS) is a home or community-based service that utilizes psychiatric rehabilitation interventions designed to build and reinforce functional skills. Skills Building/CBRS is available to youth and adults diagnosed with various mental, developmental, or emotional challenges.

Common reasons to seek CBRS include:
  • Promoting independence and inclusion of people with disabilities.
  • Increasing community awareness and resilience.
  • Providing skill building and support for mental health.
  • Assisting integration with the community for adults and children.
  • Helping individuals leave trauma and other issues behind and lead a normal life.

Case Management

Behavioral Health Case Management is a collaborative process that assesses, plans, links, coordinates, and monitors options and services that address a member's needs. Case Management is provided to clients who cannot independently navigate or coordinate the service system.

Common reasons to seek Behavioral Case Management include:
  • Bridging the gap between clients and the services they need.
  • Providing personalized care, advocacy, and ongoing support.
  • Helping individuals achieve stability and improve their quality of life.
  • Ensuring clients receive the right medication, therapy, and resources.
  • Assisting with housing and transportation.

Peer Services

Peer support workers are people who have succeeded in the recovery process and choose to use their personal experience to help others navigate it. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support workers help people become and stay engaged in recovery and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer Services include Adult Peer Support, Family Support, Recovery Coaching, and Youth Support.

Common reasons to seek peer services include:
  • Teaching specific skills ( known as skill-building).
  • Providing emotional support and openness.
  • Offering encouragement and advice.
  • Sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and empowerment.
  • Connecting individuals with tools and resources.
  • Assisting in creating crisis plans or recovery roadmaps.

Substance Abuse Treatment

Any service noted above that may be explicitly provided for a client recovering from a substance use disorder. These services may also treat mental health challenges as part of the substance use treatment. Substance Abuse Treatment can be received through psychotherapy, group treatment, case management, recovery coaching, IOP, or PHP, typically.

  • Fear of withdrawal.
  • Co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Legal and employment concerns.
